According to a recent PWC report titled Creating a Mentally Healthy Workplace, untreated mental health conditions are costing Australian workplaces $10.9 billion per year. This breaks down to $4.7 billion in absenteeism, $6.1 billion in presenteeism (employees attending work when unwell and significantly underperforming), and $146 million in compensation claims.
In a 12-month period, one in five Australians will experience a mental health condition of some kind. So, the reality is that mental health conditions exist in workplaces across all industries in Australia.

When we think of workplace health and safety, our first thoughts might go to preventing slips, trips, falls, or chemical hazards. Yet, less tangible threats can be just as dangerous.
